Two contenders. Two padded jousting poles. One inflatable arena. The challenge is simple: keep your balance while trying to knock your opponent off their podium! Inspired by the famous Duel challenge on ITV's Gladiators, our Gladiator Joust inflatable brings competitive entertainment to birthday parties, school fun days, corporate events and family celebrations.
With a striking purple-and-black colour scheme, a large inflatable landing area and two raised jousting podiums, this is an attraction that gets spectators involved just as much as the participants. Every wobble, near miss and dramatic tumble adds to the excitement.
Step Onto the Podium and Prepare for Battle
Forget ordinary party games. Gladiator Joust is all about balance, timing and a little bit of tactical thinking.
Two players climb onto their individual inflatable podiums, each holding a specially padded pugil stick. Once both contestants are ready, the duel begins.
The objective is to use the padded sticks to knock your opponent off their podium while remaining standing on your own. A well-timed move might secure victory in seconds, while a closely matched contest can become a hilarious battle of balance and determination.
When someone loses their footing, the surrounding inflatable arena provides a cushioned landing area.
All games should take place under appropriate supervision, following the equipment's operating instructions and the permitted participant limits.
Black and Purple Gladiator Joust Arena
Our Gladiator Joust features a distinctive black-and-purple design that gives it a more competitive appearance than many brightly coloured children's inflatables.
The rectangular inflatable arena has raised purple perimeter walls, with alternating black and purple inflatable sections running along the floor. Two raised podiums are positioned in the centre, ready for the competitors to take their places.
Unlike an inflatable assault course, where participants move through a series of challenges, Gladiator Joust focuses on one head-to-head contest. This makes it easy for spectators to follow the action and cheer for their favourite competitor.
The open-top design also allows people standing at a suitable safe distance to watch the competition.
Bring the Spirit of Gladiators to Your Event
Anyone who remembers the famous Gladiators television challenge will recognise the idea immediately. Two contestants face each other, padded sticks in hand, attempting to knock their rival from a raised platform.
Our inflatable version brings that competitive format to private parties and organised events.
For a Gladiators-inspired birthday party, you could arrange a series of friendly duels, with winners progressing through a knockout competition. Give participants their own gladiator nicknames, ask spectators to support their favourites and finish with a final showdown between the two remaining competitors.
Alternatively, keep things informal and let guests take turns challenging their friends.
Either way, the fun comes from watching people try to stay balanced while their opponents attempt to send them tumbling.
A Brilliant Spectator Attraction for Fun Days
Some inflatables are designed primarily for the people using them. Gladiator Joust is different because watching the competition is part of the entertainment.
At a school fun day, groups can gather to support their classmates. At a corporate event, colleagues can challenge one another in friendly contests. At a family celebration, siblings, cousins and friends can compete for bragging rights.
The quick, head-to-head format also lends itself to events where several people want to participate, with competitors taking turns under the supervision of the event organiser or an appropriate attendant.
For larger gatherings, you could combine the jousting arena with other Inflatable Games to create a varied activity area.
Balance Beats Brute Strength
Gladiator Joust isn't simply about hitting harder. A contestant who rushes forward without thinking can quickly lose their balance, while someone who remains composed may be able to outlast a more energetic opponent.
Timing, footwork and concentration all play a part in the challenge.
That unpredictability is what makes the game entertaining. A confident player can lose almost immediately, while a quieter competitor might surprise everyone by staying on their podium until the end.
For fair and safe play, participants should be appropriately matched according to the equipment's permitted age, size and weight requirements. The padded sticks must only be used as instructed, and players should never deliberately strike the head or face.
Gladiator Joust for Team Building and Corporate Events
For workplace celebrations, staff activity days and corporate fun days, Gladiator Joust provides an entertaining alternative to conventional team-building games.
Colleagues can represent their departments, teams can nominate champions or managers can take part in friendly challenges against employees.
You can create a simple tournament, award points for victories or arrange a final contest between the strongest performers.
For a more extensive programme of competitive activities, consider adding the Inflatable Penalty Shootout or Giant Buzzwire. These provide different types of challenges, allowing participants to test their football skills or concentration as well as their balance.
Our Activity Inflatables range includes further options for organised fun days and group entertainment.
Combine Jousting with an Inflatable Assault Course
If you're organising a larger event, why stop at one challenge?
Our Party Time Assault Course introduces obstacles, inflatable biff-bash posts and climbing and sliding sections, creating a completely different activity from the head-to-head jousting arena.
For a striking alternative, the Toxic Assault Course features a black-and-green design with a variety of inflatable challenges.
You could organise a mini competition day in which participants complete an assault course before taking part in a Gladiator Joust contest.
For school celebrations, community fun days and larger private parties, combining several attractions can help keep different groups entertained throughout the event.
Choosing a Suitable Space for the Jousting Arena
Because Gladiator Joust is a substantial inflatable attraction, it requires more consideration than a small garden bouncy castle.
You'll need enough room for the complete arena, appropriate anchoring, the blower and the required safety clearances. The surrounding space should remain clear so participants can enter and leave safely and spectators can watch without obstructing the equipment.
For outdoor events, a suitable level grassed area may provide an appropriate location, subject to weather and ground conditions.
Indoor hire may also be possible where a venue has adequate floor space, ceiling height, access and suitable anchoring arrangements. Sports halls and larger event venues may be worth considering.
If you are uncertain whether your venue is suitable, contact Abacus before booking so we can discuss the requirements.
